THRACE. Maroneia. Circa 189/8-49/5 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 35 mm, 15.66 g, 12 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing tainia and wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. ΔIONYΣOY - ΣΩTHPOΣ / MAPΩNITΩN Dionysos standing front, head to left, holding grapes in his right hand and narthex stalks in his left; in inner left field, monogram; in inner left and right field, monogram. HGC 3.2, 1556. Schönert-Geiss 1264 (V77/R263). Nicely toned and of lovely style. A few mior marks and with very light doubling, otherwise, about extremely fine.
